Crossing Borders, Confronting Racism, Claiming Grace:
Generations, Geographies, Genders
July 12-15, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia
The theme of "Crossing Borders" dominated our tenth CLOUT national gathering in Atlanta July 12-15, 2007.
We gathered for worship, dialogue, story-telling, panels and fishbowl discussions. Workshops and plenaries addressed issues such as immigration, cross-racial dialogue, inter-generational conversations, and transgender explorations, as well as issues in self-care and biblical study. Bishop Flunder spoke from her heart to ours. And Delores Berry wow-ed us with her musical intonations.
The best feature of CLOUT gatherings is the networking and community building that occurs as we meet each other, tell our stories, and experience the joy of being heard into speech. We were joined in that experience by speakers and leaders, both well-known and little-known Christian lesbians, all of whom bring rich stories of crossing borders, confronting racism, and claiming grace.
